Rainbow Cake!

This cake was the most time consuming and complicated cake that I have ever made! But then again, I don't have much experience baking or cooking. Like almost everything else on this blog, this was my first attempt at making this cake.
Here is where I got the decorating idea....

My cake obviously didn't come out as nice looking, but here it is! I will post tips and ingredients under the pictures! :)

INGREDIENTS
3 boxes of WHITE cake mix
GEL food coloring
A LOT of sprinkles
*For the frosting I used a cream cheese buttercream recipe that I found online.  I believe I used powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla,  and butter

TIPS
*Be sure to cut all 6 layers of cake so that they are even! You can do this using a knife or the Wilton cake leveler.  This will keep the cake from collapsing like mine did! haha
* As you can see from my pictures, I put buttercream in between each layer and then stacked them on top of each other.  This was a big mistake because my layers were NOT even so some of the layers ended up cracking.  I had to throw out a couple cakes and start over.  The second time I frosted 2 cakes at a time, froze them for 2 hours, and then stacked them.  I still had trouble with making sure all the cakes were even.
* The last step was to stack all of the layers and place the sprinkles on.  Basically my kitchen looked like a rainbow explosion by the time I was done...
*The most important thing to do while making this cake is to make sure all of your layers are even!!

:)

It will probably take me a couple more attempts to get this cake to look nice

First time making lasagna!

This turned out great! The only thing I would change would be to add less salt to the sauce.

Ready!

Easter Cupcakes

Lets start with the batter...
I am just getting started with making cupcakes so I am still using cake mix.  For these cupcakes I used a yellow cake mix and separated into 2 batches.  I then mixed one batch with 1/4 chocolate chips and 4 ounces of cream cheese.

While the cupcakes are cooling you can get all of your supplies ready.  As you can see, I used different type of easter candy, food coloring for frosting and coconut, and plain ol' store frosting.  Here are the cupcakes after they were decorated!

Finally they are packed up for delivery to my mom's house!
